Central Downtown Tampa
Central Downtown Tampa is located right in the heart of downtown Tampa. This bustling area is known for its bustling activities, great nightlife, and large venues like Water Street, River Walk, Amalie Area, and the Straz Center For The Performing Arts.
It is also home to some outdoor treasures like the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, and the Florida Aquarium. So, if you want to be right in the middle of the action, this might be a great location choice for your downtown Tampa condo.
The area is roughly bounded by the Hillsborough River to the west and Meridian Avenue Greenway on the east, East Scott Street on the north, and the Garrison Channel on the south. It is just south of Tampa Heights, one of the city’s oldest subdivisions.

Popular Downtown Restaurants
The Columbia Café is one of our favorite restaurants in downtown Tampa. The Columbia Restaurant has been serving Florida since 1905 in a variety of locations. The restaurant in downtown Tampa is at 801 Water St. The handmade sangria is wonderful as is their famous 1905 salad. They feature Spanish foods and have a killer Cuban sandwich.
Bern’s Steakhouse is probably the most famous steakhouse in Tampa. It is located in the SoHo district on 1208 S. Howard Ave. They feature aged steaks and one of the largest wine collections around. In 2016 they earned the James Beard Outstanding Wine Program Award for their wine cellar. They reportedly have 6500 labels in the wine cellar.

Fun And Interesting Things To Do In Downtown Tampa
There are so many great things to do in downtown Tampa. Here are just a couple of our favorites.
Just take a stroll along the Tampa Riverwalk on a pretty day and enjoy the sights and scenes around the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa. The Riverwalk is 2.4 miles long and is very walkable or bikeable. Riverwalk follows the Hillsboro River city and has water views on one side, and a variety of museums, shops, restaurants, and parks on the other side. This is a lovely way to spend a day in the beautiful Florida weather.
Tampa Museum of Art
Another great stop along the river is the Tampa Museum of Art. They have a nice mixture of classical, Modern, and contemporary art.
Glazer Children's Museum
Taking the kids? If so you want to stop at the Glazer Children's Museum. They have interactive exhibits where you can sculpt a masterpiece in the art smart room, learn about money in the central bank, or just have fun.
The Florida Aquarium consistently ranks as one of the top aquariums in the country. This indoor, outdoor aquarium is a great place to spend the day. Besides the traditional aquatic fish, they also have turtles, eels, stingrays, and even some playful otters. It is a very cheerful place and every time we have been there the animals look well cared for.
Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park
On a pretty day, the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park is a great place to hang out this 8-acre park runs alongside the Hillsboro River just off Riverwalk. They have dog runs, pavilions to play, restrooms, a mist fountain, and lots of other activities and things to do.
Pirate Water Taxi
One of her favorite things that developed combines many of these activities is the Pirate Water Taxi. This is a pleasant, and relatively inexpensive way to spend time on the water and see lots of sites and visit lots of stopping points. The route runs from the Florida Aquarium on the Garrison Channel north up the Hillsborough River to Ricks On The River Restaurant. There are a total of 17 stops so you can take in many activities along the way.
