Overview of Riviera Bay Homes

Waterfront Homes

Typically about half of the homes for sale in Riviera Bay are waterfront properties. Riviera Bay, Caya Costa, Harbor Isle, Sun Plaza Isles, and Tanglewood are some of the most popular waterfront communities. The waterfront homes typically range in size from about 1,400 sq ft to around 4,000 sq ft, although some are larger. A typical home is a three-bedroom two-bath ranch-style layout with about 2,200 sq ft of living space. About half of the waterfront homes also have private swimming pools.

Off Water Homes

The off-water homes are typically a little bit smaller, with two and three-bedroom homes ranging in size from about 1,400 sq ft to a little over 2,000 sq ft.  The typical off-water home is a three-bedroom two-bath ranch with about 1,600 sq ft of living area. Typically about 1/4 of these homes have private swimming pools.

Things to do in Riviera Bay

A big draw of the area is that you are surrounded by nature. Riviera Bay is a natural half-mile-wide inlet that separates the homes from beautiful Weedon Island. 

Weedon Island Preserve

Weedon Island Preserve is a huge 3,000 acre plus natural area lush with many species of native plants and animals. It is also well known for great fishing, birdwatching, kayaking, and other water sports. They have boardwalks and nature trails throughout the area, a canoe/kayak launch, nature classes, an education center, and more. Learn more at the Weedon Island Preserve Website. This is also a great place to kayak. Don' worry, if you don't own a kayak, you can rent one at Sweetwater Kayaks in Weedon Island.

Riviera Bay Park

This 8-acre park offers lots to do including recreation trails, a large pavilion, 3 shelters, a playground, an outdoor exercise zone, a community garden, a basketball court, and two tennis courts.

Rio Vista Park

Dog owners love to walk their dogs (on lease) through this park. It is a nice little park and connects to some bike trails. There is exercise equipment in a covered area. It has public restrooms and a nice playground.

Cypress Links at Mangrove Bay

Cypress Links was designed to be a challenging 9-hole, par-3 course. It was created for golfers of all ages, playing levels, and abilities. Enjoy large greens, generous tee boxes, a variety of lakes, and bunkers, with holes of varying lengths requiring a variety of clubs.

Gandy Bridge Beach Area

As you drive east towards Tampa on Gandy Blvd/Highway 92 you'll see the Gandy Bridge Beach Area. People enjoy strolling the beach or relaxing on the sandy shores. You will often see kayakers paddling about or stopping to fish in the productive waters of Tampa Bay.

Crab Shack Restaurant

The Crab Shack is a fun, casual, no-frills place to have a meal, snack, or beverage. It is located right off Gandy Blvd just before you go over Tampa Bay on the way to Tampa. They specialize in crab and seafood but have other snack foods like wings, gator bites, and sandwiches. It is located at 11400 Gandy Blvd St. Petersburg, Florida.
